Marist College Strategic Plan 2004-2009

Welcome

I am pleased to present Marist College's new five-year strategic plan, titled Building on Success: Strategic Plan 2004 - 2009. The plan was developed in consultation with hundreds of members of the College community, including trustees, faculty, staff, students, and alumni and was approved by the Board of Trustees at its November 6, 2004 meeting. The plan builds on the considerable success we have experienced over the past decade and, at the same time, emphasizes directions and priorities that will enhance our competitive position and make our college a more distinctive one.

The plan outlines a road map for Marist to become one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. We will accomplish this by remaining a student centered institution that provides a high-quality educational experience. The values or ideals that underpin the Marist experience are excellence in education, the importance of community, and the principle of service. By pursuing these ideals, we believe we will help students develop the intellect and character required for enlightened, ethical, and productive lives in the global community of the 21st century.

The goals contained in this plan focus on several key areas: 1) maintaining a distinctive and high-quality education in all programs; 2) increasing diversity at the College; 3) strengthening the sense of community at Marist; 4) becoming a recognized leader in using information technology; 5) expanding our network with external organizations; 6) broadening the financial resource base of the College; and 7) becoming a more effective and efficient educational institution.

I encourage you to read our plan closely and I thank the members of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee for their fine work in producing an excellent strategic plan for Marist College.
