Applications may be accepted beyond deadlines on a space available basis.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all items on the MIP application are completed. Please review the application checklist for specific requirements. Applications not completed by the deadline may not be considered.
Apply early to ensure that there is space available on the program of your choice. You are especially encouraged to request recommendations and transcript(s) in the semester prior to the deadline.
Please call 845.575.3330 or visit us on-campus in the Cannavino Library, Suite 334 if you have any questions.
*Overseas program provider deadlines may vary. Contact the MIP for a specific program provider application deadline.
Credit is granted by Marist College. Courses are taught at foreign institutions, or by faculty who are hired directly by Marist College. All overseas courses are approved, monitored and evaluated by the faculty and administration at Marist. Students should meet with their home campus advisors to determine how credits will transfer to their individual degree programs.
To be accepted into the Marist International Programs, applicants must meet the following requirements:
If you are physically challenged, have a documented learning disability, or have a medical condition that requires treatment, this does not preclude your enrolling in study abroad. However, please make us aware of your situation so it can be determined if your needs can be accommodated at the site at which you wish to study.
You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements. The MIP works with a travel agency to assist students with airline reservations and ticketing. You may use this agency, or you may choose another agency or make your own travel arrangements. Whichever option you choose, make sure you give the MIP your travel itinerary prior to departure.
Marist College students should apply for financial aid as they normally would through the Student Financial Services. Most forms of aid from the College may be used for study abroad during fall and spring semesters, including federal aid. Speak with your financial aid officer for specific details on your aid package.
For non-Marist students: Rules governing the transfer of aid to study abroad vary from institution to institution. Consult with your financial aid office to determine what aid can be transferred for your study abroad program.
Once you are accepted into a program, you will receive a predeparture packet from the Marist International Programs office. The information contained in this packet will answer many of your questions as you prepare to spend a semester or academic-year abroad, such as housing arrangements, what you should bring, and health and safety issues. In addition, you will be encouraged at this time to think more formally about your academic, professional, and personal goals for the coming semester and your plans to fulfill them.
At pre-departure orientation meetings at Marist College, staff and past MIP participants will be available to answer your questions. Onsite orientation is provided by the host institution.
Pre-departure orientation meetings at Marist College are open to all participants. If you are unable to attend on campus orientation, you may contact our staff with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your program.
The MIP works with Marist program advisors abroad and/or with international offices of our affiliated institutions to oversee the administration of all programs. Overseas staff are responsible for organizing the academic and social components of the program, assisting students in adjusting to their new environment, and arranging for student internships and housing. The instructors at each site are faculty of the host institution. Qualified native speakers teach language courses.
