ASAP FAQ Sheet ASAP FAQs

The Asia Summer Abroad Program (ASAP) is a full time semester abroad opportunity, primarily designed for business majors or business minors, who are seeking an enriched and diverse foreign study environment under the guidance of American university professors. Students will travel to numerous countries across the Asian continent and explore a variety of case studies, industrial visits, cultural excursions, and other activities while pursuing a full load of coursework in business administration, economics, communications, and/or religious studies. A detailed itinerary can be found at the Marist College study abroad program website. 5-6 credentialed faculty members will accompany the students throughout the itinerary. This program is currently in its 11th year and has proven successful for many students. ASAP is offered by Marist College's School of Management, which is an AACSB-accredited School for business administration.

This program is an exciting opportunity for students to expand their resumes and make themselves attractive to future employers who are interested in students with distinguished international experiences. Spending three months in Asia will give students an unparalleled insight into many different Asian cultures dramatically different from anything they've encountered before in a Western setting. Highlights of this trip include cultural excursions and corporate visits to such companies as General Electric (Tokyo), Ford/PAG (Shanghai), Deloitte & Touche (Shanghai), HSBC Bank (Hong Kong), Aragon (privately held textile company owned by a U.S. citizen, Bangkok), and Royal Pacific (privately held textile company, Bangkok), among many others.

The program is academically rigorous, and student participants must be able to handle multiple priorities and manage their time efficiently. Students must have a desire to learn about international business, business practices, different cultures, different ways of living, and different ways of looking at the world. International travel and foreign language experience are not prerequisites, but intellectual curiosity, personal maturity, and flexibility are.
