Celebration of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity
Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
3rd Floor Marist Student Center
What is the Celebration of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity? It is an annual showcase of student scholarly and creative work, and provides a forum for students to share their work with, and be celebrated by, the Marist community. The 1st Celebration was held in April 2002 and was limited to a display of posters. CURSCA 2010 will feature poster sessions, oral presentations, and other means of expression such as musical and dramatic performances, artwork, and other types of scholarly and creative activity.
Where and when will the Celebration occur? CURSCA 2010 will be held in the Student Center,on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM (during activity hours).
Who must present? All students who have received any financial support for their research, scholarship and creative activities from the College are required to present at CURSCA, and will be given priority if space and time constraints arise. Students must have a faculty sponsor to submit and present their work.
What types of work may be presented? Students may present research or scholarly/creative activity that they have already prepared or presented for another purpose, such as an independent study or senior project, a conference presentation, or a recital. While we prefer that students present work that is not course-embedded, work that was undertaken as part of formal coursework is welcome. A Faculty Committee will review and prioritize submissions in the event that space and time limitations become a problem. Please indicate any special needs (e.g., audio-visual or room configuration) regarding your presentation on the registration form.
What types of presentation are possible? (please indicate your preference for presentation type on the registration form)
What if there is more than one author or presenter on my project? All co-authors may act as co-presenters. The registration form asks you to indicate one of the authors to serve as the Contact Person for the group. List other presenters' names after yours. Remember, each submission must have the approval of a faculty sponsor to present their work; this faculty sponsor will validate the quality of your work
How do I/we register? By completing the registration form and submitting it electronically.
When is the deadline for registering? By 5:00 PM, Friday, March 26, 2010.
Further questions? First see your faculty sponsor. For questions that they are unable to answer, contact a CURSCA Committee member from your school:
